Seat of Wisdom Comprehensive Secondary School, Nnobi was established on 7th May 1987, by the then Parish Priest Nnobi – Rev. Fr. Anthony Idigo. The idea of a new school (a Vocational Training Institute) was initiated by His Eminence, Francis Cardinal Arinze, then the Archbishop of Onitsha Ecclesiastical Province. The aim was to help young girls gain some vocational skills like – Sowing, Catering, Weaving, etc. the school had eighteen young girls as its foundation students. The principal in charge that time was Rev. Sr. C. N. Nweze of the congregation of the Handmaids of the Holy Child Jesus (HHCJ).
In 1991, Rev. Sr. C. N. Nweze was replaced by Rev. Sr. Blessing Onyebuchi (HHCJ). The new principal with combined efforts of the P.T.A upgraded the school from a Vocational Training Institute to a secondary school. And the school was named – Seat of Wisdom Comprehensive Secondary School, Nnobi.
Through her efforts too and with the assistance of the assistance of the then secretary to the Archbishop of Onitsha – Late Rev. Msgr. O. P. Achebe; the school gained ‘Government Approval’ in 1995. The same year, the school applied to be a Junior School Certificate Examination center. The inspection was done in 13th October 1995 and on 13th December 1995, the approval letter was received through the Education office Onitsha Archdiocese – (MOE/SD/SEC/334/1/32/ of 1995).
When Late Rev. Fr. John Okai became the parish priest of Madonna, as an educationist he made inroads into uplifting the school academically. Consequently, he secured and cleared a permanent site where the school is situated presently. Rev. Fr. T. N. Odukwe helped greatly in the development of the permanent site.
Rev. Sr. Felicia Enewichukwu (HHCJ) was next to be appointed as the principal after Rev. Sr. Blessing Onyebuchi (HHCJ). She laboured to elect the main school block, but was unable to finish it because she was transferred to another place when the building was at the lintel level.
In 1998, Rev. Sr. Mary Ibeabuchi (HHCJ) became the principal till 12th August 2000, the day the congregation of Handmaids of the Holy Child Jesus were officially asked to discontinue manning the affairs of the school.
The vacuum created helped the Board of Governor which was set up in 24th March 1996, but have been dormant, to swing into action. The board was headed by Late Rtd Justice Nweje. The first action of the board was to appoint a qualified and experienced educationist. And the lot fell on Mr. Augustine E. Ochiagha, a retired principal. The newly appointed principal faced with a huge challenge, swung into action. Firstly, he started paying back a loan (N900,000.00) incurred by Rev. Sr. Felicia Enewichukwu. The loan was procured to help finish school block. He, however, completed the building with the help of some Nnobi elites and the PTD. Another feat that was achieved by Mr A. E. Ochiagha was obtaining recognition for the school as an accredited center for WAEC and NECO. Further, he painstakingly build the record of the school through proper Inventory.
On 28th March, 2009, Mrs. V. O. Okoye took over from Mr. A. E Ochiagha. Rev. Fr. Leo Obiesie as the parish priest of Madonna was the Manager of ‘SEAT: Nnobi’. Fr. Leo went through thick and thin to see that the school was walled in all corners with a befitting entrance gate. Under the watch of Mrs. V. O. Okoye, computer laboratory was created; and Physics and Chemistry laboratory were both upgraded.
In October 2013, Rev. Fr. Benjamin Kanene Ezekwudo was posted to the school to take over from Mrs. V. O. Okoye. The school authority in agreement with the PTD which had Late C. O. C. Aduba as the chairman wrote to the Archbishop of Onitsha, Most Rev. Valerian M. Okeke to send a priest so as to salvage the school.
Fr. Ben took full charge as the Principal on 6th January 2014. And since he started his job as the Manager/Principal, the school has seen a total turn-around in all corners – academic and structural wise. Firstly, he changed all the worn out black boards in all the classrooms; some he replaced with white Boards. He also embarked on gradual upgrade of the school’s laboratories – procuring desktop computers for the Computer Laboratory. Physics and Chemistry Laboratories are constantly being upgraded. In his time, the school was able to receive various gifts from Governor Peter Obi, which include – a school bus, 30KVA Generator and 21 Laptops.
To crown it all, he organised first Cultural Fiesta ever to be held in the school, and from the event he raised money with which he built an ultra-modern Comfort House (Toilet).
